YAV Shell Mobile: your PC's PowerShell, on your phone. Five minutes to set up.
1. Set up the PC
- Download and run
yav-companion.exe on your Windows 11 PC. It lives in the system tray.
- Keep the PC awake and on the same network as your phone (or connected via Tailscale).
2. Pair the phone (once)
- Install and open the Android app → Add PC.
- On the PC tray menu → Pair phone… — a QR code appears (valid 2 minutes).
- Scan it with the phone, compare the verification phrase on both screens, tap Approve on the PC.
3. Open a terminal
- Pick an existing PC folder, or New folder to create one.
- Tap Open terminal — PowerShell starts in exactly that folder.
4. Daily use
- Menu (top-right): sessions, keyboard, paste, composer, font, theme, disconnect.
- Key strip (bottom): Esc, Tab, Ctrl, arrows, Ctrl+C. Long-press Ctrl/Alt to lock.
- Paste always shows a preview — nothing runs until you tap Send.
- Back button never kills your session — it offers Disconnect instead.
5. Disconnect & resume
- Disconnect keeps your shell running on the PC. Reopen the project and tap Resume.
- After a network drop the app reconnects by itself and replays missed output.
- End session is the only action that terminates the shell — it asks first.
Troubleshooting
- Can't reach PC — PC awake? Companion running? Same network / VPN up?
- Pairing expired — the QR lasts 2 minutes; tap Pair phone… again.
- Identity changed — PC was reinstalled or its key changed; pair again.
- Session ended — PC restarted; start a new terminal in the same folder.
Approved folders control the picker only — PowerShell runs with your Windows account's full permissions. Revoke a lost phone from the PC tray menu → Devices.
